Unele principii active se extrag printr-un contact mai indelungat al plantelor cu solventul. In aceste cazuri, dupa o spalare prealabila, plantele maruntite se lasa in apa la temperatura camerei (15-25 grade), timp de 6 &#8211; 8 ore (fara sa se depaseasca aceasta durata, deoarece se pot dezvolta microorganisme).<br />
Practic, seara, inainte de culcare, se pun plantele la macerat, iar a doua zi dimineata vor fi filtrate prin tifon sau vata. Maceratul va fi pastrat la rece in sticle inchise.<br />
Macerarea se recomanda pentru unele plante cu continut in mucigalii (radacina de nalba, seminte de in), precum si pentru frunzele de vasc.</p>
